1. In the Outlook bar, click Property Type.

2. In the left-hand pane, select the Object Type to which you want to add a new Property Type (for example, this could be a Process or one of your own Object Types).

   The List pane on your right shows a list of all the Property Types currently owned by the selected Object Type.

3. Click File > New Property Type.

4. Type a Name and Script Name for the Property Type.

5. Choose the data type from the drop-down list. See:

   Note that once you have saved your new Property Type, you cannot subsequently edit this data type.

6. To add your own help text for this Property Type, choose the Help tab and write in your text.
   
   (This is what the user will see when he or she hovers over the name of this property in the properties dialog.)

7. Before this Property Type can be seen on the Object's Properties dialog, you must first create a new pane for that Object Type and assign the Property Type to that Pane.

1. In the Outlook bar, click Pane.

2. In the left-hand Pane, select the Object Type to which you want to add the Pane.

   The List Pane on your right shows a list of all the Panes currently owned by that Object Type. User-defined Object Types will have at least five: General, Description, Help, Status and Version.

3. Click File > New Pane.

4. Type the display Name for the Pane.

5. Click OK.

You are now ready to assign the user-defined Property Types to the user-defined Panes.

1. Make sure you are still in the Panes mode (click Pane on the Outlook bar).

2. In the left-hand Pane, select the required Object Type.

3. In the right-hand Pane, double-click the Pane to which you want to add the Property Types.
   
   This opens the Pane Properties dialog.

4. Click Associations.

5. Select Property Types. You can then perform the following:

Add one or more Property Types to the Pane

Remove one or more Property Types  from the Pane

Edit a Property Type

Create a new Property Type

Change the position of a Property Type on the pane

Notes:

• Property Types only appear in the candidates list if they do not exist on another Pane

• If there is already a Property Type of data type multi-line text associated with this Pane, then the right arrow button is disabled

• If there is already at least one Property Type of any data type associated with this Pane, then if you select an object with the data type multi-line text in the candidates list, the right arrow button is disabled

• The "up" and "down" arrows change the sequence number of a selected object in the associated objects list, thereby changing the position of the Property Type on the Pane

• If the object at the top of the associated objects list is selected, the “up” button is disabled

• If the object at the bottom of the associated objects list is selected, the “down” button is disabled

Click OK when you have finished making changes.

Click Cancel to return to the previous dialog.

2. Click the right arrow button

Note: Any Property Types selected in this way will then move to the list of associated objects.

2. Click Edit, or double-click on the Property Type, or right-click and select Edit to open its properties

3. When you have finished editing the details for the selected Property Type, click OK to return to the Property Types dialog

1. Click New, or right-click anywhere in the candidates list and select New, and the Property Type properties dialog opens

2. Enter the details for your new Property Type, then click OK to return to the Property Types dialog

1. Select the Property Type from the list of associated objects

2. Click either the up or down arrow to move the selected Property Type

Note: Changing the relative position of a Property Type in the associated objects list changes the position of the Property Type on the Pane.
